How to thaw frozen septic pipes?

1 - Invert your bottle of Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw and shake vigorously like you would a can of paint.

2 - Whenever possible (but not necessary), remove safety seal and safely warm Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw prior to using. ( hot, not boiling ) For your safety, use a pair of kitchen oven mitts or an equivalent hand protection when handling hot materials.

3 - Determine the best location of your septic pipe and sewage system to pour Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw into. This could be any one of these access locations:

The main sewer stack or stink pipe on the roof.

The bathroom sink. Use a plunger in the sink to push Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw beyond the trap so it enters the pipe below.

The kitchen sink. Use a plunger in the sink to push Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw beyond the trap so it enters the pipe below.

The toilet. Toilets have a built in trap so use a plunger to push Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw beyond the trap so it enters the pipe below.

The exterior clean out can be used if the cleanout is above the frozen section of the down grade of the pipe.

4 - Use a plunger to force Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw beyond the trap. Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw will not thaw your frozen septic pipe if it is sitting in the trap instead of beyond the trap and in the frozen pipe it is intended to thaw.

5 - Repeat in 4 hours if necessary. It is recommended to have an additional Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw on hand until the pipe is thawed. Remember that Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw is weakened slightly when it mixes with the additional standing waste water.

6 - In most sewer environments the sewer pipe will completely empty without any notice once the ice blockage has been thawed.

Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw is not recommended for use in weeping tile, septic fields, or driveway culvert pipes. These systems either have holes intentionally or may have holes or leaking seems that allow Liqui-Fire Pipe Thaw to drain out of the pipe.
