A4 - "LIQUI-FIRE" will thaw any length of intake water line or intake water pipe.  "LIQUI-FIRE" will work fine even if water is present in the line.  It works best if the standing water is removed but that is not necessary.

In 1998: another customer in the Lake of the Woods region of Canada and United States hired a plumbing contractor to steam his intake water pipe or water line as it was frozen when he and his wife arrived home the previous day.  The plumbing contractor charged him $59.00 per hour and worked steaming the 300 foot long 1 1/4 intake water line.  At the end of the day, the contractor left telling the husband that he'd managed to get about 110-120 feet of the pipe thawed and explained that he could come back again the next day to try to get more thawed but that it was taking longer to thaw the ice inside the pipe with each foot.  The steam was becoming colder the plumber explained.  He left the customer $500.00 poorer and told the customer that he probably would have to wait until spring before the 300 foot long pipe thawed.

A5 - LIQUI-FIRE is able to thaw any frozen sewer pipe or drain pipe.  The waste solids are frozen in liquid and "LIQUI-FIRE" will thaw the liquid portion of the waste in the pipe.  Once that happens, then the solids can slide down the sloped length of the pipe as they do the rest of the year.  Sit back and enjoy your day knowing that "LIQUI-FIRE" is working even though you don't have to.

• Q6 - How long will it take for "LIQUI-FIRE" to thaw unthaw restore my frozen water pipes frozen drains frozen drain pipes frozen sewer pipes or frozen septic pipes?

A6 - The time required for "LIQUI-FIRE" to thaw your frozen lines will vary.  Some users notice a freeze up immediately plus they know about Liqui-Fire and it is also available at a store near them or they have a couple of spare bottles on hand.  These users find that Liqui-Fire thaws their pipes in a short period of time often in a few hours after inducing Liqui-Fire into the frozen pipe.

Other users may have frozen water lines for days, weeks or even months. The internal freeze length within the frozen pipe is a factor that determines the required time for Liqui-Fire to thaw their pipe(s).  For these users the time it takes to thaw their pipes is possibly days and sometimes even weeks depending on the length, the diameter, and the lay of the pipe that is frozen.

The latter group may have issues with the lay of the pipe.  A pipe that was installed relatively true or level during the warmer months may have one or several areas of the length of pipe that are higher or lower than other areas of the pipe.  Water runs through these areas fine when it is not frozen.  Once the pipe freezes it is these valleys that create issues for some users.  The valleys act as traps beneath a sink, thus trapping Liqui-Fire from going beyond that point.  The only way to assure Liqui-Fire gets beyond that point or valley is to pour in more Liqui-Fire.  Liqui-Fire is heavier than water and will find its way to the lowest point.  Pouring more Liqui-Fire in will cause it to pass beyond those valleys.

Those who notice a freeze up within 24 hours of its occurring, Liqui-Fire normally thaws your lines within 4 hours to overnight under normal conditions.

To better understand what it is that Liqui-Fire must do here are a couple of examples to help users understand.

Example #1: Lets say you have a boat and motor and have to cross a big lake.  The result you want is to complete this task.  To take on this task you buy a couple of gallons of gasoline.  You pour them into your boat gas tank.  You set out on your task to cross the lake but the motor stops running.  The gas you bought was not enough to complete your task.  That does not mean that the gas didn't work.

* The gas manufacture will not give you a refund on the gas you bought.

* The gas company is not responsible for the time it took you to row the remainder of the way to complete your task.

 

Common sense tells us to ALWAYS keep extra gas on hand.

 

Example #2:  Lets say you are taking a trip to the beaches of Southern California.

Just because you put SOME gas in your vehicle:

it does not mean you are there yet, nor

that it will be enough gas to get there, nor

does putting in SOME gas shorten the time it will take to get there.

It will take however long it takes and there is no way of knowing what traffic jams, accidents, vehicle break downs, washroom breaks, meal breaks, nights of sleep, etc etc etc may be lengthening the time it takes.

Example #3: Understanding what it takes to thaw 40 feet of frozen pipe.  40 feet of frozen pipe is equivalent to a 4 storey tall building.  Lets assume the temperature is well below freezing and you were trying to warm you hands.  You are trying to warm you hands with a hair dryer.  Your hair dryer is 40 feet above your hands.  You are blowing the heat into a 40 foot long piece of pipe that is the diameter of your own frozen pipe.

BUT...

The pipe is still continuing to be frozen from the outside along the entire length of the pipe.

PLUS...

The pipe is full of SOLID ice.

Before your hands ever feel any heat whatsoever; the hair dryer must warm the most extreme furthest end of the pipe nearest your hands to the freezing point.  Once the far end of the pipe has been warmed to the freezing point instantly you will have your water running or your drains and sewers empty.

Again however long it takes is simply how long it is going to take.  Every pipe and environment is different.

A7 - Thawing a frozen pipe is much like taking a trip across the country.  Just because you put "some" gas in the tank does not mean you will get there on that gas alone.  We all understand that it takes as much gas as it takes.  The smaller the vehicle and the shorter the distance the less gas it will take.  The bigger the vehicle and the greater the distance the more gas it will take.

Keep those relative thoughts in mind when using using Liqui-Fire.  Stores will let you buy more and are willing to return any Liqui-Fire that you did not use provided you keep your receipt and the bottles are clean.

Ask yourself, "is my pipe short or long?"  "Is my pipe small or large in diameter?"  "How much water is in the pipe that will dilute Liqui-Fire before it gets to the ice blockage?"

To have your water restored faster, use as much as possible, however two or three bottles is plenty for many users to thaw frozen water, drain, septic or sewer pipes.

A9 - The only thing that works like "LIQUI-FIRE" is a spring thaw.

Online: Several "One Percent" companies state drain cleaners or drain openers thaw frozen pipes.   They write numerous articles, blogs, etcetera to increase sales.  Here is the truth.  If your pipe wasn't clogged or plugged with grease or dirt before freezing temperatures occurred in your area then it isn't clogged or plugged.  It is simply frozen with ice and perhaps some suspended solids are frozen in that ice.  You only need to thaw your frozen drain or sewer pipe because your pipes are as clean as they were before freezing.  Plus there is only so much drinkable water on earth.  Your choice will save billions of gallons of water from being contaminated.

The damage drain cleaners or drain openers do to your pipes is clearly visible on the consumer alert page.  This includes your plastic ABS pipe and cement tile pipe.  Those test were conducted by a completely independent forensic laboratory.  Those companies just want your money.
